In the past, especially in my early years, Mickey, Donald, and Tom n Jerry would always make me feel better. It was an enjoyable event, a cartoon that was tension-free and just entertaining. The benefit of those two cartoons above was their cultural neutrality, which made them universally adored. Back then, Doordarshan would only air beginner-level Indian cartoons, which people enjoyed more for their novelty value than anything else. It went without saying that Indian cartoons were terrible.
In the present day, the situation has undergone a significant alteration. For the most part, children across the country appear to be captivated with Chhota Bheem. A significant proportion of adults are becoming enamoured with Chhota Bheem, the cartoon character. Rajiv Chilaka (above) has made possible what was previously thought to be impossible. The kids have developed a near-cult following for the show, which airs on Pogo channel virtually nonstop. Since nothing else, even the IPL, is permitted at my house, I am aware. Had to argue with my child to watch TV!

The undercurrent of moral teaching and the subtly subtle emphasis on values, morals, right and evil are, in my opinion, the best aspects of the series. Cartoons featuring western characters, such as Mickey & Donald, Bugs Bunny, and Tom’n’Jerry, conspicuously lack this element. All of these involved amusing pranks, etc. To be honest, I find some of the pranks on a couple of the episodes to be a little too “wise”! By comparison, the Chhota Bheem series is not only entertaining but also upholds Indian values by emphasising right against bad. It’s hard to say for sure if cartoons help youngsters develop character—if they did, all children would be saints by now!—but at least they highlight the proper values in a way that young children can understand. That is the series’ greatest accomplishment. Each episode offers a distinct message, such as one on honesty or forgiveness. These episodes impart some knowledge to the children, which sets the show apart from all previous animation attempts. I have not come across any content in any Chhota Bheem episode that is coarse, inappropriate, or stereotypically “wise-guy” like. We should applaud the series’ devotion to its core principles!
The other obvious factor is that we can easily relate to and become invested in the cast because of the Indian setting. We almost automatically accept the settings and appearances since they are so familiar. Usually, the background is so beautifully rendered and picturesque, with a tonne of foliage and other natural elements, that it enhances the overall appeal. Given that the basis is a village, it appears quite cosy and natural.Every episode has a compelling narrative with a deeper meaning than just jokes and good times. That takes the whole series to a whole new level! It stands out beyond the majority of other products in its genre because of this double mix.
It is quite encouraging that the movie version has also been deemed successful. The film was really enjoyable for me to see, and my family thought the same. I was shocked by the number of people in attendance considering it was a cartoon. It is obviously unrealistic to expect it to play to capacity for weeks on end given that it is a new genre in Indian cinema, but the positive reception is encouraging for the country’s animation sector. For the reasons mentioned above, I think this animation film is superior to all others, and we can only hope that the group will continue to improve moving forward. The finest aspects of it were its well-defined plot, excellent voice acting, message, and animation quality. Regarding the criticism, all I can say is that after seeing most of the animations, I did not find anything in them that was absent from Chhota Bheem. The background music was elegant and perfectly complemented the plot. If I could make one recommendation, it would be that the filmmaker consider going a little bit further with the next Chhota Bheem film. As it stands, we are left wanting a little bit more. Other than that, the film was excellent. Better beyond anything I’ve seen in this genre so far…
The director only needs to hear this feedback: please don’t replace the voice actors for as long as it is humanly possible. In a cartoon, we recognise the characters mostly based on how they look. That is really important!The series’ success may be attributed to its distinct message, well-developed plot, excellent voice acting, and endearing cast of cartoon characters. Hopefully, these factors will continue to contribute to its success.
